As a young child growing up in Camden, Maine, Leane spent many hours drawing and painting at her mother’s knee, but was unaware of its effect on her until much later in life. Her mother, a portrait artist herself, gave her many useful hints that she often thinks about today when she’s painting.
While raising her own children, art took a back seat. Over the years, she expressed herself by writing poems, three of which have been published. Painting resurfaced after her youngest child entered school and hasn’t stopped since, at first, mainly painting for family members.
Leane’s love of home making is apparent in her work. The home and its contents, in fact, serve as fodder for most of her works. Her pieces brim with the simple things she comes in contact with on a daily basis. Her love of gardens and cats have become an inspiration for many of her works
