Chuck Briggs

Chuck Briggs grew up in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts with a love of hunting, fishing, and wildlife. He married a Maine girl and they moved to her hometown of Friendship in the mid 1980’s, where he operates a home construction business. In 2002 he met Chester Mitchell, a carver originally from coastal Massachusetts. Chet shared his knowledge of carving and painting shorebirds with Chuck. Many of Chuck’s birds reflect the techniques of the early masters and are in the manner of Elmer Crowell and Joe Lincoln. He began carving for his own pleasure and to give as gifts and eventually sold some of his birds locally. Chuck and his wife Celia raised two sons and a daughter in Friendship and their grown children all still live in the midcoast area.
